But Pimpilai said the couple started arguing after discovering that she had used a password to protect her messaging app.

CCTV captured the moment Pimpilai tried to reconcile with her partner before Kanjana hit her with a motorbike helmet, hurled her to the floor and repeatedly smashed her face into the ground.

In a five-minute long attack - as two grown men looked on then walked away - the enraged woman repeatedly punched, kicked and pulled the hair of her partner.

With blood pouring from Pimpilai's face, Kanjana then continued the attack as she tried to drag her onto her moped to go home.

Shockingly, Pimpilai begged for help from passers-by as several young men stood watching.

A middle-aged female resident eventually arrived back home and stepped in to save her.

Kanjana has now been arrested after domestic violence groups became involved and she faces up to ten years in prison over the savage attack.

Shaken Pimpilai, who is still recovering from the assault having suffered a smashed eye socket and cuts to her face requiring several stitches, said: 'I was scared for my life, I thought I would die. She would not stop hitting me.

'I tried to stop her but I did not have the power to fight back. I was not strong enough. I cried and cried and called for help but nobody came.'

Pimpilai's cousin, Thikampron, said her relative had been in a 'very bad' condition in hospital but is feeling stronger.

She claims the family of Kanjana had offered to pay 50,000 baht (£1,100) in compensation to cover medical expenses.

But the family of Pimpilai declined the payment and have instructed police to prosecute the alleged attacker.

Thikampron said: 'There have been many people who have offered support for my cousin. We're very thankful.'

Pahonyothin police station in the Ratchada district of the Thai capital said Kanjana had been arrested over the attack and officers were now reviewing evidence.

A station spokesman said today: 'We have taken statements from the victim and reviewed the CCTV footage.

'The suspect has been questioned and admitted the attack. The case will be fully pursued according to the law and we will prosecute the suspect once the investigation is processed.'
