Video shows Livonia police officer opening fire on driver who raised long gun

LIVONIA, Mich. – It was 2 a.m. on a Sunday when Livonia 911 dispatchers received calls about a white Ford Explorer driving crazily.

An officer spotted the vehicle and activated his lights. The SUV pulled over in the Kimberly Oaks subdivision. If ever there was a prime example of how there is never a regular or standard traffic stop, this is it.

The video shows the driver pull a long gun on the officer. The officer fired multiple times. The driver also fired. Remarkably, no one was killed. The officer was OK while the driver was shot twice -- his injuries were not life-threatening.

The driver with the long gun is 23-year-old Joseph Frank Carlton, who has been charged with multiple felonies.
