A teenager fought off a Brooklyn mugger who demanded his coat at gunpoint, flinging the bandit into a garbage pail and wrestling with him on an icy sidewalk, police said Wednesday.
A surveillance camera caught the entire scene, and cops are asking the public’s help identifying the would-be bandit.
The 16-year-old victim was walking along 61st St. near 18th Ave. in Bensonhurst when the suspect pulled a gun on him at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
The teen refused the man’s demands, reached for the weapon, and threw the robber to the ground. They wrestled, and the crook briefly got the upper hand, pistol-whipping the teen several times before running off, empty-handed.
The teen suffered cuts to his face and head, cops said.
Cops describe the robber as a black man who is about 5-foot-10, was wearing a beige jacket, a gray hoodie, gray sweatpants and red boots or sneakers.
Cops are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
