Policeman stabbed but manages to shoot dead his attacker

The man who was caught on CCTV stabbing a police officer in Sampaloc, Manila has died a few hours after he was shot, according to a report on GMA News TV Live.

In the said CCTV footage, the man identified as Reynaldo Lee can be seen about to stab a motorcycle rider several times.

Lee proceeded to run after the rider, who shot him.

The rider was later identified as PO1 Gester Versosa, who is assigned at the Manila Police District Station 7 and was on his way home at the time of the incident.

Versosa said he only tried to defend himself.

Lee was brought to the hospital for treatment but died a few hours later. Versosa suffered from a stab wound on his right chest.

Recovered from the crime scene is a Swiss knife used by Lee. Versosa, meanwhile, surrendered his service firearm.

Authorities are still investigating the motive of Lee while Versosa will be turned over by the Sampaloc police to the Manila Police District Homicide Section. — BAP, GMA News
