Early-morning holdup, attempted abduction captured on video

Birmingham police are asking for the public's help identifying a robbery suspect.

The holdup happened about 5:40 a.m. today in the 2200 block of First Avenue South. Birmingham police Lt. Sean Edwards said the victim was robbed at gunpoint of his wallet and Ford F150 pickup truck.

The suspect, Edwards said, attempted to kidnap the victim but the victim managed to escape. The victim's truck had not yet been located as of 4 p.m.

Anyone with information on the identity of the robber is asked to call Birmingham robbery Detective Johnny Jones at 205-254-1753.
