TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A suspect has been arrested in the death of a woman near Flowing Wells and Roger, according to a Tucson Police Department release.

Chet Maley, 25, has been booked into the Pima County Jail and faces second-degree murder charges.

The incident happened shortly before 5:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, when Operations Division West officers responded to a report of a woman hurt on north Flowing Wells Road, south of Roger Road.

When officers arrived on scene they found a woman, identified as Roxanne Ortiz, on the ground with obvious stab wounds.

Officers called for emergency crews and used their first aid kits to try and save Ortiz.

She died at the scene.

TPD detectives began investigating what happened and via witnesses and evidence, they learned that Ortiz and a man with whom she had been having a relationship with, Maley, drove to a convenience store on Monday morning where they got into an argument.

It began in the parking lot of the convenience store, reported TPD, and continued south on Flowing Wells Road by an apartment complex.

According to TPD detectives, the argument turned physical and Ortiz was stabbed.

Maley fled the scene on foot.

Officers searched, but did not locate Maley until Monday afternoon, at a home in the area.

Detectives are continuing the investigation and are asking anyone with information to call 911 or if they wish to remain anonymous, to call 88-CRIME.
