Milk bar attendant fends off bat-wielding attacker
Bystanders have helped in the arrest of a baseball bat-wielding man who allegedly tried to rob a Melbourne milk bar.
Investigators have been told an armed man allegedly tried to hold up a milk bar on Coleman Road, Boronia, about 7pm Saturday.
Incredible CCTV footage has emerged showing how the shop attendant fought back against a man armed with a baseball bat, before the struggle spilled onto to the street where onlookers helped him make a citizen’s arrest.
In the clip obtained by 7 News, a hooded man can be seen entering the Boronia store, repeatedly swinging a baseball bat at the attendant.
Rather than cower by his attacker, the attendant moved from behind the register to confront the man, and fight back.
The altercation spilled onto the street, catching the attention of a group of passers-by, who intervened.
The group helped the attendant take control of the man, then use a nearby shopping trolley to pin him to the ground.

It is understood bystanders were able to restrain him until police arrived.
He was arrested at the scene and has been charged with attempted armed robbery.
The 18-year-old Meadow Heights man has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday, police confirmed to 7 News.
A 21-year-old attendant was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the incident around 7pm on Saturday.
