A video that has left Thailand reeling in shock shows the moment a man is brutally stabbed in the neck - just so the killer could make off with his iPhone.

In the seemingly unprovoked attack, the man on a motorbike rides up to his victim before launching the savage attack.

Kittikorn Wigaha, 26, was filmed on CCTV stabbing Wasin Leuangjaem, 26, in the neck before fleeing with his iPhone 7 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Officers released horrific footage of the killer in a bid to trace him - and was caught today in the early hours of the morning in a village in nearby Nonthaburi.

Police also captured a video of the moment they arrested Wigaha - which shows him smiling and laughing - still with blood on his shoes from the killing.

He was paraded in front of the media and reenacted the crime today and said: "He wouldn’t have died if he hadn’t fought back.”

Kittikorn told police that he and his accomplice failed to steal a woman’s purse before killing Wasin.

They then robbed two more victims stealing an iPhone 5 and 5,000 THB (£100) in the Lat Phrao area of the Thai capital.

Police said he had been in prison eight times since he was just 13 years old for a string of petty crimes. He now faces life behind bars.

CCTV shows Kittikorn and his victim grapple as the attacker pulls out a large knife - which he plunges through Wasin's neck and into his back.

The young man is killed instantly and collapses onto the floor - as the attacker and an accomplice flee together on a motorbike.

Police said the victim's iPhone was missing after the attack.

Officers in the Lat Phrao district of the city found Wasin dead in a pool of blood.

He had a stab wound on the front of his neck that had pierced his windpipe and a second stab wound on his back.

Police said the university graduate was a former employee of Bangkok Flight Services and had left to train to become a pilot.
