Metro Police say 37-year-old Delama Casimir, the man accused of shooting a detective Thursday afternoon near Nashville International Airport, is from Pompano Beach, Florida. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) confirms Casimir has no criminal record in Tennessee.

FOX 17 News looked into Casimir’s history in Florida and found an extensive criminal history.

He was charged in October of 2014 in Broward County for battery, domestic violence, and tampering with a misdemeanor proceeding, according to the domestic violence database.

In February 2015, Casimir was charged in Volusia County for criminal mischief, trafficking in morphine, grand theft of a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, and possession of cannabis.

According to South Florida records, Casimir was charged in Broward County with battery, cause of bodily harm, and domestic violence back in Oct. 2018.

Casimir was shot by a SWAT team member Thursday after police said he was breaking into cars at an airport parking facility. He died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The detective Casimir shot, Officer Donovan Coble, is now in stable condition.
