Video shows terrifying Fife gas station robbery

Graphic surveillance video shows a violent armed robbery at a Fife convenience store. And investigators say the robber’s actions lead them to believe he has had some sort of firearms training, possibly military.

“We believe he may have had some training with that weapon,” said Fife police spokesman Lt. Tom Thompson.

The video also recorded the gunman threatening the clerk at a Gull gas station and convenience store during the hold up around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

“Open it up cuz! Open it up! Open this up ****** now,” the man is heard shouting.

The armed man brandished  a semi-automatic handgun with an extended ammunition clip.  Police say he crouched as he moved toward the clerk's wife, threatening to shoot her. He carefully kept his finger off the trigger, a technique referred to as indexing, except at the moment he swung the weapon at the clerk and fired a shot to frighten him.

“I’m not playing with you! Hurry up, you know how to do it,” he shouted as he fired a shot past the clerk’s head into the wall. After that he quickly picked up the spent shell casing on the counter top, putting it in his pocket, leaving no physical evidence at the scene.

“He fired the round, retrieved the casing, which is something we don’t see very often,” Thompson said.

But the man broke a keyboard that opened the cash register, slamming his hand on it while threatening the clerk and ended up leaving without any cash.

Police describe him as African American-American in his 20's,  mediummedium height and weight.  He was wearing a sweatshirt with the words Foothill Mustangs, possibly a high school team sweatshirt, as well as a Raiders ball cap with a reflective sticker -- and carried a backpack with an LA Lakers logo on it.

“So we’re looking for any information we can get on that, or if somebody recognizes that sweatshirt,” Thompson said.
