Police video shows a suit-and-tie-wearing man pummeling a straphanger inside the Times Square subway station — all for looking at him the wrong way, police said.
The men were riding a subway about 6:20 p.m. Feb. 27 into the 42nd Street-Times Square station when the man looked at the stranger and said something similar to “What are you staring at?,” police said.
The victim told police he tried to ignore the aggressive man.
Video released Monday night shows the attacker walloping the victim after the train pulls into the station. He approaches the man, who is leaning against the wall, and begins throwing punches until the victim collapses. Once he falls, the angry man kicks him once before walking away as bystanders look on.
The victim suffered chipped teeth and bruising and swelling to his face. He was treated at the scene.
Police describe the suspect as about 6 feet tall, 240 pounds and in his 30s.
