Watch this customer take down attempted bank robber

A would-be bank robber in Lackawanna County was surprised by a take-down from a customer Friday.

After a masked man armed with a gun ordered a clerk at Honesdale National Bank in Scott Township to fill a bag of money, customer Lackawanna County Robert Sakosky suddenly tackled him.

Sakosky threw him to the floor and tossing the bag of money away, surveillance video shows.

In the tussle he unmasks the robber, who stands up and walks out the door.

Police arrive as the robber is fleeing, and Sakosky directs them to where he fled, and the suspect is apprehended a short time later.

John Ryall was charged with robbery and terroristic threats, and was placed in Lackawanna County Prison.

Sakosky is manager of Carbondale Grand Hotel, WNEP reports. Employees there described him as a hero, but "just a normal guy."
