LAPD released body cam footage from this shooting last week.
A large group of LAPD trail Ponce for blocks at a slow walk. He's holding a hammer. They shout and shoot less-lethal rounds at him. He keeps walking. Finally they just shoot him dead in the street in broad daylight.

LAPD followed Samuel Ponce at close range for 15 minutes, shooting him multiple times with rubber bullets and tasers as Ponce begged for help.
By the time they shot and killed Ponce, he had already dropped the weapons they were worried about, and he was moving away from them.

(12,310 posts)They knew he was mentally ill. They said so before they literally hunted him down.

(32,626 posts)all those cops, all those cars called for one mentally ill person with a hammer? They went after him like they were hunting. Following him on foot, all those orders, and then they just shoot him. Like they picked him out for a training exercise.

(53,771 posts)without any bean bag, taser or gun shot. They seemed to be building up to shooting him, just had to cover themselves firing all the non-lethal rounds and them taser first.
Gadget-obsessed cops more concerned with using their toys than just physically taking the guy down and getting him some mental help.
Policing is in such a sad state. They've forgotten they're supposed to protect and serve not stalk and kill.
