Police have located the vehicle involved in an attack on a petrol station attendant who fought off a group of attackers who had sticks and a screwdriver.
The Auckland petrol station attendant was left shaken but uninjured after wrestling the weapons off the group.
Atinder Singh, 23, was working at the Mangere GAS station when he says a man approached with a long stick, which he managed to snatch off him and use to hold him at bay.
In the video the white sedan can be seen speeding onto the forecourt, narrowly missing the attendant.
Two people can then be seen throwing a screwdriver, a picture frame and other items from the vehicle, leaving the front of the store smashed up and Atinder Singh dodging projectiles.
Detective Senior Sergeant Albie Alexander says this is absolutely appalling behaviour and the community will be equally as outraged as police by this type of offending.
"Here we have a person at work, earning a living and these offenders show up and think it is their business to attack him," he said.
"Police are taking this type of crime very seriously. We have seen a spate of aggravated robberies across Auckland and while this was slightly different as they didn't take any items, it is still very serious and police will make every effort to identify and hold those responsible to account."
