Gary Wallock had just walked out of a Lauderhill fish market with his girlfriend when an armed assailant ran up to him from behind and began shooting at him.

The execution-style murder of the 34-year-old Lauderdale Lakes man outside the Lobster and Seafood Warehouse on Monday afternoon was captured on surveillance video, which police released Wednesday.

“You can say he was executed,” said Lt. Gregory Solowsky. “This was not a random act of violence, it was not a crime of opportunity.”

The video shows the gunman fired repeatedly at close range as Wallock turned to get away, then collapsed next to his car in the parking lot of the fish market, 1854 NW 38th Ave. The gunman stood over Wallock and continued shooting.

Wallock’s girlfriend panicked and ran through the parking lot, calling for help. The gunman later fired shots in her direction before running away. She was not injured.

“She was a secondary target,” Solowsky said. “He didn’t open fire on her right away. It was more like an afterthought.”

Wallock died shortly after help arrived.

Solowsky said the gunman was dropped off by a driver in a 2010 blue four-door Nissan Altima with dark tinted windows. It has the Florida tag EZX-F13. Police are seeking the vehicle and at least two people in connection with the shooting.

Wallock’s final moments were spent talking to his girlfriend as they walked to his car, the video shows. Wallock was facing her when the gunman came up on him.

Authorities ask anyone with information regarding the incident, the location of the Nissan or its occupants to call Detective Chad Williams at 954-717-4615 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
