The woman accused of trying — unsuccessfully — to rob an Alabama convenience store while wearing an elephant hat is now in custody, police said.

Kristin Snow, 40, is charged with robbery, according to Huntsville police. She’s accused of trying to rob the Texaco gas station at 4200 Bob Wallace Avenue during the early morning hours on Thursday, said Lt. Michael Johnson. The incident was captured on surveillance video, which police released to the public Thursday afternoon.

A suspect wearing an elephant hat went to the counter, pulled out a gun and demanded all of the cash register money, a clerk told police.

The store manager thwarted the robbery when he grabbed the suspect’s gun, surveillance video showed. That’s when the suspect ran from the scene, according to police.

By Thursday evening, police said they had learned the suspect’s identity. Snow was in custody on Friday.
