LOVELAND — Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded Tuesday at 11 a.m. to an armed robbery at the Hazy Hippo west of Loveland.
According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, an employee said a Hispanic teenager entered the store, picked up several items — including a metal baton — then approached the counter.
The teen reportedly threatened the employee with the baton and told the employee to lay on the ground. The release stated the employee pointed a gun at the teenager and he fled from the store on foot.
No one was injured during the incident.
Deputies, assisted by Loveland police officers, searched the area for the suspect — described as 150 to 160 pounds and between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall.
While they did not find him, investigators were able to get a picture of the teen from the store’s surveillance footage.
Deputies also discovered the teen, after fleeing on foot, left the area in a gold 1990’s model four door sedan driven by another person — the car is believed to have dark tinted rear windows and front end damage.
The car was last seen driving westbound on West Eisenhower Boulevard.
An image of the car was also retrieved from surveillance video.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office at 416-1985 or Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at 221-6868.
