Police were searching Tuesday for two assailants wanted in a violent strong-arm robbery at a 7-Eleven store in Fontana that was caught on surveillance video.

The robbery took place around 3:35 a.m. on Saturday at a 7-Eleven located in the 16900 block Sierra Lakes Parkway, according to a news release from the Fontana Police Department.

Two unknown men entered the store and appeared to be shopping, the release stated.

They went up to pay for their items and waited for the cashier to open the register, surveillance video showed.

That was when one of the suspects could be seen leaning forward and punching the 24-year-old employee in the head.

When the employee fell back, the suspect jumped over the counter and continued beating the employee, the video showed.

Meantime, the second robber reached into the open register and took the cash drawer, police said.

The men took additional merchandise and an unknown amount of cash before leaving the store.
